Bob Hayward & Nick Baldock have now run 25 consecutive marathons out of the 34 it will take to get to John O’Groats from Land’s End and in doing so have covered over 600 miles. This is all in aid of Podge the 13 year old boy who was so badly burnt in an attack last May. Simon, their new driver, arrived safely last night so they went to the cinema and Pizza Hut to celebrate. A great footie fan he was surfing on his wap phone within minutes of arriving to find out the Watford result, ah well, we’ve all got our cross to bear. Today’s run was in one word, wet. It rained hard all day, every step of the way. Windy, cold and wet. Even the clouds descended to cover the scenery, making the mountains seem like shy virgins hiding their beauty behind a nighty. The only high point of the day was finding a perfectly sound (Ooops sorry for the pun) fairly expensive looking guitar on the side of the road, lying there all alone beside a stretch of dual carriageway outside Perth, no one to be seen for miles either way. They called Simon and got him to pick it up as he passed. Amazing what falls of the back of a lorry. It’s now 8pm, the weather is miserable and so are we. We are going to bed so there ... | |
