Bob Hayward & Nick Baldock have now run 4 consecutive marathons out of the 34 it will take to get to John O’Groats. Bob had a very sore and tight achilles tendon which slowed the pace somewhat but they still made it to Oakhampton so remain on track. Finally they say goodbye to Cornwall and to the A30 both great hosts. Following the radio coverage and the football match last night it was noticable how many more drivers responded to their frantic waving in search of an encouraging flash of the lights or beep on the horn. The high point of the day was the visit of Dave Train, Olympic Racing Canoe Coach, who gave them some needed encouragement and to crown it all, he bought some tickets! One foot note: On the entire A30 they found only 22p — lots of nuts, bolts, knives, Red Bull cans, car trims, number plates, wheel covers and also one blue film on CD rom! — but money, only two battered coins! | |
